I finished my first LHN ornament of 2012 last night. I'm trying to do one ornament per month but they aren't all LHN ones -I have so many ornaments I want to stitch!

This is "Deck the Halls" from the 2011 series. I stitched it on 36-ct linen with the threads called for.

Bringing the Tree Home

I did up two ornaments this past week, but apparently didn't take a picture of one. Figures. lol.
However here is Bringing The Tree Home. It's on a 28ct (I think, it's from stash) and the colours are changed to accommodate what I had around. I really do love this design.

I also did up Toys Under the Tree but have no pic. So I'll have to get one and post it later.

Hello there, it's so nice to be here - I am hoping Vonna doesn't think she has a stalker - I have joined 4 of her SAL groups so far, 3 of which were today!

I love these LHN ornies and was so pleased when Diane said she was doing another year, is it too early to start hoping for a series in 2013 too!!

I have stitched most of 2011s charts and have about 5 or so to do of 2010s - I have one last Christmas present to stitch and then I shall be back to the ornies with a vengeance!

I would like to extend an welcome to all the new members and I look forward to seeing pictures of all your stitched ornaments.

My name is Loretta and I have been stitching for over 35 years. I can't imagine my life without being able to pick up a threaded needle and a piece of fabric. I am married (25 years this year) and we have 1 dog, Mandy. Besides stitching I enjoy cooking, baking, reading and spending weekends at our trailer during the summer.

This was one of my starts for the Crazy January Challenge which I finished a couple of weeks ago but kept forgetting to post here. I am currently working on "All is Calm" and hope to have that one finished by the end of the week.

I received the first of the 2011 Ornaments last week but although I am itching to start it, I am going to wait until I have all the 2010s done - 5 down 7 more to go.

Frosty Flakes LHN was my last finish for 2010.

I started Peppermint Twist on Jan.2, 2011.

Frosty Flakes was done on 14 ct Aida and backed with a green fabric and trimmed with gold ribbon and slip stitched the top with gold beads.

We've had some members leave us and some new ones arrive, so maybe take a few moments to share some things about you.

I'll start us off:

My name is Vonna and I reside in Bloomington, Indiana home of the Hurryin' Hoosiers at Indiana University. I have four children ages 13- 5 years. I work outside the home as a Microbiologist on the weekends only - as I stay pretty busy dawn to dusk every other day with my family. I have a wonderful husband, Keith, who works as an Electrical Engineer.
I love to cross stitch, it is my addiction and my most favorite designers are Little House Needleworks, Country Cottage Needleworks, Prairie Schooler, Blackbird Designs, Carriage House, Plum Street Samplers...yadda, yadda...I could go on and on with that vein. I love to listen to books on my MP3 player, stitch and walk (which I'm trying to convince myself that I like, but I really don't I just do it for exercise) 3 miles per day (6-7 days per week).

I have most of the Little House Ornaments from 2010 stitched for myself and they hung on our tree this year. I'm looking forward to the 2011 ornament line from Diane, and I have a leg up on you all because I've stitched the first 6 already, as I am the stitcher and finisher for all the 2011 ornaments :) But sadly Diane gets to keep those and I have to restitch them for myself.....

What a wonderful ornament to stitch. I used a 16ct beige fabric. Finished the ornament at a finishing class at my LNS Richmond, TX, I made the cording using dmc floss(221 and 3051).

I have all the other ornament and will get them finished soon.

They are stitched on 28 ct Tea Monaco 1x1 (they're roughly 3x3) using the recommended fibers. Some have added beads or buttons as they ‘call’ to me.

I've finished my 5th ornament, Snowy Pines. I know now that I won't be able to finish them all by the end of the year, but maybe a couple more. I just loved how quick this one stitched up, and that I had the beads to finish it. I chose a darker color for the house (for my MIL), I used Spinach for the trees (still using up that green), and used the lighter blue for the border (didn't like how it stuck out so much). I plan on putting my order in to 123 stitch for at least 2 more ornaments, just not sure which ones.

"Winter Sheep" This was done on 14 ct Oatmeal Aida. I used wisper on the sheep. It is filled with polyester fiber and backed with green fabric.

Red House in Winter

Here is Red House in Winter, finished. I wanted to love this ornament so much. I broke down and bought the over dyed threads for it, (I used Spinach for the trees, a color that was supposed to be used in He's a Flake, but I hadn't purchased it for that one.) I will probably keep using Spinach for other greens in the series. I was concerned with the red not covering as well as I wanted it, but it seems to be okay. I also didn't have the right color gold, so I substituted, and I don't really like it. It is too yellow. I am going to ignore all my feelings about it and learn to love it. I am now on to stitching Snowy Pines. This looks like a really quick stitch. After that it will be Winter Sheep. This will give me lots to do while I order the next ones.

I just saw the latest ornament on the LHN website. Peppermint Twist. It is adorable.

I know he doesn't look right, does he? Well, again I have to call this ornament "finished for now". When I get the beads I will add them and finish the ornament. I am planning to do the beads and finishing for all the ornaments together. This way they will be uniform and similar in design. As I start the finishing process, I can just keep going until they are all done. I'm not sure which ornament I will start next. How far behind am I? I’m pretty sure there are no deadlines, but I did want to do these monthly. I’m a bit behind my goal, but at least stitching is finished on He’s A Flake.. It's been sooo long since I've been to Bloggerland. I have been MIA for over 2 months. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things. I'm about to pick up the third ornament, but I'm having a dilemma, hopefully you can help. I have two pieces of fabric to choose from. A light blue gray, and an dyed piece of linen called Thyme. It is a gray green color. Which do you think I should use? Also, I don't have the required threads for the tree, "Spinach", I would like to use a DMC thread, does anyone have any suggestions as to which green I could use? Finally FInished Fa-La-La!

I finally finished up the stitching on Fa-La-La. I tried to work on this while visiting our son recently, but just could not count right--once I got home and put it in a hoop, I was fine. Goes to show me, linen and stitching in-hand do NOT go together!

The fabric in the background will be the back for the ornament. I'm still looking for just the right ribbon or something to set it off.

I've made a small start on Pear Tree.

"Let It Snow" finish

I started this one while waiting for the the 1st two ornaments in the series to arrive in my mailbox. It is by Cottage Country Needleworks and was published in the 2008 JCS Christmas Ornament Magazine.

I am planning to start on the "Pear Tree" and the "Snowy Pines" ornaments tomorrow. I ordered "He's a Flake" awhile back but it was with some other items that are on backorder so I am still waiting for that one. I hope to order the fifth ornament by the end of the week.

Little House Needleworks has certainly outdone themselves with these wonderful monthly Christmas Ornament designs. I have finally completed the stitch work for my "Pear Tree" Ornament. I used 32 count raw linen - and just for fun - I switched the color of the beads to red and added an aged star topper to my tree.

When the holidays roll around, I will be decorating my tree with burgundy and gold balls and all of the ornaments I can get stitched. This is the first time I have made cross stitch ornaments so I have a lot of work to do !!! Looking forward to seeing the final results.

"Winter Sampler"

I'm waiting for my next Little House Needleworks Ornament, so I stitched an available pattern I found. It's a lovely Little House Needleworks Design from the Just Cross Stitch Magazine 2009 Special Christmas Ornaments Issue. I think it will go nicely with the ornaments I've done so far.

Fa La La Complete

Fa La lately I've been stitching my Christmas ornaments and I have finally completed my LHN Fa La La design.
I haven't finished the ornament but the stitch work is all done and I'm ready to go. Here's a quick look.
I used 18th century brown 30 count linen. I like how the color of the linen makes the threads stitched really stand out. Gentle Art Raspberry Parfait (0380) was used in place of DMC 221 and Gentle Art Dried Thyme (0110) for DMC 3052. This is the first time I've used variegated floss. I certainly like the results. I find it fun to stitch with as well. I also used lazy daisy stitch for the mouth instead of french knots to give my girls the gift of gab!! I think that is always a plus.

Hello, My name is Colleen and I have been doing some type of needlework for at least 30 yrs. LHNCCN is new to me, as I took a stitching LOA for a few yrs., not by choice. I adore Diane and Nikki's patterns and color combinations. I have been watching the first Ornament SAL and was pleased to find out that Too was formed. Thank you Vonna. And, yes, just like many of you, my stitching stash is large enough to last me 5 life times!!
I moved to SWFlorida 3 yrs. ago, from the burbs of Chicago. I work full time, my elderly Mom lives with us, my hubby is my bestfriend, I have 2 grown sons and a Bassethound puppy, named Wrigley. One son is getting married next month and is adopting his new bride's 4 yr.old son. I'm excited!
Thank you so much for having me in the group and to Vonna for taking on the role of monitor. I will post pics soon, once my MIA camera is found.

Using 2 strands of recommended DMC floss

This was a fun stitch and I cannot wait to start Pear Tree. I am hoping to visit my LNS next week and pick up He's a Flake.

Is it weird that I was still humming Christmas carols while ironing this? ; )

I am still waiting for the charts for the first 3 ornaments to arrive. I love seeing everyone's progress and I am anxious to start on mine.

In the meantime I finished the Winter Sampler (LHN) from the 2009 JCS Christmas Ornament Magazine.
I have now started on CCN's Let it Snow (2008 JCS Christmas Ornament Magazine). Hopefully, by the end of the month I will have at least started on Fa La La.

Hello everyone! I‘m Charlene -- and I‘m a cross stitch lover!

Thank you, Vonna, for starting this second blog and allowing me to join! I follow the first and tried to decide whether I could fit another SAL into my schedule, but once this one was up, I couldn’t resist! I‘ve been waiting to finish the first of the ornaments before introducing myself. I've been stitching in some form or other since I was about 18, and a friend at work introduced me to cross stitch some 30 years ago. Nearly three years ago the love overtook me again - which my stash shows! So many patterns, so little time, since I work full-time. My DS is out on his own, now, but I do have a fur-baby, Pixie. She is my constant stitching companion, and I love her dearly! My LNS has stitch night on the first and third Tuesday of each month and I enjoy getting together with them.

This week I finished stitching Fa-La-La. It was quite a fun piece to stitch! It, as the others will be, is stitched on 28 ct Tea Monaco 1x1 using the recommended fibers. I did add beads for the snowflakes and the candle's flame.

Pear Tree Finished~Almost

Here is my third finish of the year. I loved this little stitch. It was quick although with a couple of errors. It does still need beads, like I said in the last post. I know I have a bunch of beads somewhere in this house. Oh, well, I'll find them someday. I am not going to finish these up until I have a bunch done so that I can coordinate them a bit. I have ordered He's a Flake from 123 stitch, it should be here hopefully by Monday at the latest. It calls for one specialty thread, but I think I'll change that up a bit. I might use a DMC Variations dark green since that is the only special type of thread sold around these parts. Can't wait to post again.
